How to use the LDAP field setup-version 8.X

This explains how to use the LDAP field set up in HelpDesk version 8.X. The LDAP field setup allows you to pull LDAP attributes into the ticket. It can be accessed by logging in as the system admin and clicking on Application Configuration-LDAP-LDAP Field setup.

To search for a user, you must type in their fully distinguished name (format: cn=jsmith, etc....). If you have a base DN set up, do not put that at the end of the context. For example, if your base DN is o=gl, and you are located at cn=jsmith, ou=Support, o=gl, then in the LDAP field setup field, you wiould put the following: cn=jsmith, ou=Support.

Once the person comes up, their LDAP attributes will display below. Double-click on the attribute you want to display. Keep in mind that you are setting this up globally for the entire system. This is not just a setting for the particular user you are using. These attributes will be displayed for everyone.

The LDAP attribute will show up in the top of the page after double-clicking on it. It you leave it as it is, that attribute will display only in the user accounts page for each user. If you check the checkbox "Show Field on Ticket", the attribute will also be displayed on the ticket. You can also put in the display text that you want to display instead of the LDAP attribute. For example, if the LDAP attribute name is: LastName, but you want it to display as: Last Name, you can enter that in the Display Name field.
