When installing or starting eHD - User receives a "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/grouplink/ehelpdesk/installer/Install (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)"

This error occurs when eHD is started or when you try to run the installer using a JAVA version that isn't supported. Everything HelpDesk requires Java JDK 1.5 or newer. If you have Java JDK from sun installed, make sure your JAVA_HOME variable is set to the appropriate JAVA directory. For more information on setting your JAVA_HOME environment variable, see our KB:

If you are running a linux machine, make sure you are using Sun's JAVA JDK and not the IBM version that is frequently available in many linux repositories.
