Problems viewing attachments in IE

I have a test ticket with a PDF, RTF, TXT and a JPG file attached, each to a different comment. With IE 7 or 8, we get the attached download error message for PDF or RTF files. It works fine for TXT or JPG files. With Safari, I get the attached script error message. We also get the same error on Safari on a Mac. With Firefox, I'm able to download and open all four attachments. Since IE 7 is our default browser, this could be a problem.

Before Attempting this, Make sure that you have a backup of your system registry for what ever machine you do this on.

I've found it's a known IE problem downloading files via SSL. It works fine from Safari and Firefox. I was hoping to find a fix for Tomcat and couldn't get any of them to work. Fortunately, there is a reg hack for IE:

Actually, the registry fix corrected the problem with the production system. You did not need to modify any of the Tomcat config files and then restart Tomcat.
